Butterfly Map Haven (BMH) is a Rhode Island-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization developing a transitional housing model for women rebuilding after domestic violence, housing instability, and crisis.
Our first Haven is still ahead. Our work has already begun.
Our Mission Has Already Begun
While we work toward acquiring our first property, Butterfly Map Haven is developing resources, relationships, and programs designed to strengthen our community today and prepare us to serve women even more effectively tomorrow.
PREVENT
Building awareness before crisis happens
We are researching opportunities to strengthen school and youth programming around healthy relationships, domestic violence awareness and prevention, and knowing when and where to seek help.
SUPPORT
Preparing to meet practical needs
We are working to secure donated or low-cost storage space where essential household and personal-care items can be collected and organized. As this effort develops, these resources can help women and families rebuilding after domestic violence or crisis access practical items they may need as they start over.
CONNECT
Strengthening the path to existing resources
We are developing relationships with established organizations, churches, community programs, and service providers so individuals can be better connected with resources that already exist—while avoiding unnecessary duplication of the good work already happening in our communities.
PREPARE
Building tomorrow's Haven today
Every partnership, resource, lesson learned, and community connection helps us build a stronger referral and support network for the women who will one day enter Butterfly Map Haven.
The building is still ahead. The mission is already in motion.
THE HAVEN WE'RE BUILDING
Our future residential model is designed around three stages of progress:
STABILIZE
Creating a foundation of safety.
Our Haven will provide a secure environment where women can regain stability, establish healthy routines and connect with resources needed to move forward.
EQUIP
Building the tools to move forward.
Through practical life skills, financial education, career development, mentorship and faith-based support, residents will build the knowledge and confidence needed for greater independence.
TRANSFORM
Moving toward lasting change.
Our goal extends beyond recovery from crisis. Women will be supported in building lives marked by stability, purpose, healthy relationships and hope for the future.
Every contribution moves BMH closer to acquiring its first property and expanding the support we can provide within our community. This meter is updated monthly as we continue making progress toward our fundraising goal.

A Note from Our Founder
"Butterfly Map Haven exists because transformation happens through community. Whether you are a survivor seeking hope, a volunteer willing to serve, a church looking to partner, a business interested in giving back, or a donor investing in lasting change, your support helps create opportunities for lives to be restored."
When someone leaves an abusive relationship or faces a season of crisis, the journey doesn’t end the moment they find safety. In many ways, it is only the beginning. Rebuilding a life requires more than shelter—it requires hope, guidance, practical support, and a community willing to walk alongside someone as they heal.
